If you're a science fiction fan, then you need to make plans now to attend Baton Rouge's BabelCon, a celebration of science fiction and science fun. This festival is all about having a good time with others just like you who share an unbridled enthusiasm for all things sci-fi. There are plenty of workshops, games, discussions, book authors, concerts and lots more. And you never know what character from Star Trek, Star Wars or Deep Space 9 you might run into!

Baton Rouge Blues Week
Baton Rouge Blues Week is usually held every May and features some of the best local, regional and national blues musicians who all convene to pay homage to this highly regarded music genre that was born in this part of the world. The blues festival takes place in Repentance Park in downtown Baton Rouge, and its central location makes it easy to enjoy not only the music but convenient access to restaurants and lodging. So getting a case of the blues is actually a really good thing when it's Baton Rouge Blues Week!

Greater Baton Rouge State Fair
Since 1987, the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair has been creating lots of fun for area families to experience while helping out a great cause. The volunteer staff puts together this festival every year and the funds raised from the rides, food and admission go to help youth-oriented causes in the greater Baton Rouge area. It happens every year at the State Fair Grounds and for 11 days, the celebration is all about food, music, games, shows and giving back to the community of Baton Rouge.

Art Melt
If the world is one big melting pot, then that is the premise of Art Melt 2011, an art festival that brings together all kinds of art and music that is judged by a panel of experts for a truly compelling event. Artists display their work, whether it be paintings, photography, mixed media, or computer art. If these artists happen to be musicians, they also perform various sets throughout the day-long event. It is a giant melting, or melding of lots of creative visions into one highly focused event, the focal point of which is raising money for and the awareness of the artists in the Baton Rouge area. And, of course, the panel of judges will reveal the winners in several categories near the close of Art Melt.

Bayou Country Superfest
If you're more than a little bit country and you love the music, attitude and lifestyle, then consider the Bayou Country Superfest a dream come true for you. It is held at LSU's Tiger Stadium, and the party begins with the big tailgate confab outside but the real fun is inside, as it is the largest country fan festival of its kind. Some of country music's biggest names meet fans, sign autographs, and eventually do what they do best-perform! The last big Superfest drew 87,000 fans, and this year promises to be even bigger! Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival
Crawfish is synonymous with Louisiana, so celebrate that fact at the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival. Held every year, the gathering is considered to be one of the best food festivals in the whole country. Great family fun, live music, and lots of crawfish! Make sure you have some cool water or beverage for all the spicy fun.
